Johan Cruyff Institute increases its participation at the WFS17 as academic partner and with a presence on the panel of the central debate: should the football industry be directed by former football players?

The Johan Cruyff Institute is preparing to attend a new edition of the World Football Summit (WFS17), with a bigger presence at the great international football convention to be held in Madrid on October 16th and 17th. In addition to attending as academic partner, the institution will have a presence on the central debate panel and round table discussions with some of the major players in international football. Former students can get special discounts through the Alumni Cruyff Institute platform.

The Johan Cruyff Institute will bring to the table a topic that prompts much debate: Should the football industry be run by former football players? Participating in this debate will be several major players at international level who know both sides of the business and whose names will be revealed soon. The debate is scheduled for October 16th at 4:00 pm.

The Goya Theater in Madrid will host this second edition of the convention, which will be attended by more than 2,000 people from 70 different countries. Some 60 first-rate speakers will participate and, over the two days, will discuss highly topical issues in the football industry.

Taxes in football, investments, the digital environment and 360º sponsorship, the internationalization of La Liga, television rights, live broadcasts and streaming, virtual reality applications in football, fan engagement, big data and decision-making, cybersecurity applied to football and how to access new sport consumers, will be the main themes at a convention that will put on the table how the rules are changing in this sport.

The main objective of the Master in Football Business in partnership with FC Barcelona is to educate with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge and insights from the football industry. Students will analyze the core theories and relevant case studies that will help them visualize the behavior of the football business. Students will also have the opportunity to learn, interact and contribute with FC Barcelona business strategy and operations.
