Rob Spierings heads Johan Cruyff University Amsterdam

As of August 1st 2015 Rob Spierings is heading the Johan Cruyff University Amsterdam, a part of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Rob brings several years of teaching experience as well as over ten years of international sport business consultancy experience to his new position as Manager Johan Cruyff University Amsterdam. Next to this position, Rob will continue his role of developing Sport Business programmes and setting up partnerships for the minor the Business of Sports and Events at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Rob Spierings heads Johan Cruyff University AmsterdamRob is looking forward to the new challenge: “Together with a highly motivated team, we will deliver a high quality Bachelor programme for elite athletes. The curriculum of the Cruyff University Amsterdam (Business Administration and Sports Marketing) has recently been renewed. The students now follow a broad programme the first year, and major in Sports Marketing, so that they become successful leaders in the world of Sports Management and Marketing. The curriculum also has become more flexible by the intensification of ‘flipping the classroom’ and online modules. This enables athletes to combine high quality education with their sports career”.

Rob believes that “combined with Cruyff’s philosophy (‘athletes, with their traits and the right academic training, become successful leaders in the world of Sports Management and Marketing’) we will be able to deliver a high quality Bachelor program for elite athletes”.
