Sport law, with the laws and regulations that govern the sports industry, is a fundamental aspect of the path towards professionalization that should increasingly bring South American football into line with European football. And it is also the mission of Johan Cruyff Institute to train professionals in the sector in all those skills that will improve their management. This institution is launching its blended sport law diploma course in Guatemala, combining an online part dedicated to international law with four days of face-to-face seminars in Guatemala City.

The diploma course will start on November 12 in Guatemala City and will focus on Guatemalan sport. The four face-to-face sessions will be held on November 12, 19, 26 and December 3 in the incomparable setting of the Hyatt Centric Guatemala City. The online part will take place from November 15 to December 18, and will consist of 10 virtual hours per week dedicated to international law.

The module on international sport law, designed and taught by Enric Ripoll, will analyze all aspects related to: the organization of sports entities; the contracting of professional athletes; FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players; solidarity; the training of youth players and intermediaries in the world of football; disciplinary procedures, ethics and good governance; anti-doping procedures; and alternative dispute resolution systems with federations and arbitration tribunals. Enric Ripoll is a prestigious Spanish lawyer with 14 years of experience in civil and administrative matters, specializing in international sport law and negotiation. Enric advises clubs, intermediaries, athletes and federations on labor contracts, image rights, disciplinary regulations regarding match-fixing, financial fair play and anti-doping measures, among others.

The face-to-face module of the program will analyze the essential aspects of sports law in Guatemala and will be led by Dr. Diego Enrique Ríos Solares, head of legal affairs at Beliv Company. Diego has a law degree from Rafael Landívar University and postgraduate studies in commercial, tax and sports law.

The diploma course is aimed at all those people who already have a notion of sport management and event organization and wish to complete their training, with a specialized course in sport law that will give them the knowledge they need to identify the different legal aspects that come into play in the football business and sport management in general, and the tools to resolve the conflicts that professionals in the sector face on a daily basis.
