The historic Colombian sports club Deportivo Cali bets on the future of its players, members and staff, offering them the opportunity to train at Johan Cruyff Institute with special conditions
Deportivo Cali will offer its athletes, members and administrative staff the possibility to access the academic training of the Johan Cruyff Institute with interesting discounts, thanks to the collaboration agreement signed by the two entities. The agreement also presents opportunities for the students of our institution to do internships within the club and to get to know first-hand the management of a historic club in Colombian sport through case studies and lectures.
Rodrigo Cobo, general manager of Deportivo Cali, underlines the importance of the agreement:
“For us, it is very important to form an alliance with such an important educational institution and to be able, through this alliance, to make it possible for our technical directors and staff to access programs related to the different areas of sport management and for our members to also benefit through being able to sign up to these courses at a discount.”
Deportivo Cali was the first Colombian club to play a final of the Copa Libertadores de América and is currently the Colombian team with the most appearances in the Copa Libertadores (20 matches since 2016). At present, the club lies in the 102nd position of the IFFHS Club World Ranking, making it the fourth best Colombian club in the ranking, behind Atlético Nacional (8), Independiente Santa Fe (13) and Millonarios (88). The team occupies the third position in the all-time first division table. In 2014, it was ranked as the 15th most valuable team in America by Forbes magazine, and was the only Colombian team to appear on the list.
