Toni Elías, world motorcycling champion, wins the Master in Sports Management scholarship

September 3, 2015

The rider from Manresa, who won the Moto2 title in 2010, has been selected from among all the candidates participating in the El Periodico de Catalunya and Diario Sport campaign

For the sixth consecutive year, El Periodico de Catalunya and Diario Sport have given their support to athletes, offering a scholarship for the Master in Sports Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute. The scholarship, with a value of 10,000 euros, will be awarded this year to the motorcycle racer Toni Elias.

It is an ideal time for Toni to take advantage of a master’s that will prepare him and strengthen his management skills for the sports industry, in which he is now taking his first steps. Managing a motorcycle team to compete in the Spanish Championship and running a motorcycle racing school for young talents are not easy businesses and are precisely the two projects he is currently working on.

Since not being able to go ahead with his plan to carry on last season as a rider in the Superbikes World Championship, Elias has not stopped working to continue in the motorcycle racing world, but from the other side. Together with his father, also the Spanish champion in his day, he has formed a team for the CEV Repsol. The RACC, which has supported him throughout his time as a rider, has placed the training of future champions in their hands.

“I want to do things well, and now I’m involved, I realize I have a lot of experience on the bike, but I’m lacking in knowledge to manage these projects and others that may come later. I’m excited about this Master in Sports Management because I know it will give me knowledge and confidence in my decisions,” says Elias.

He will not be short of contacts in the world of racing. Toni has spent 15 years in MotoGP, getting to compete in the top category and he was the 2010 Moto2 World Champion. His objective now is to pass on his knowledge to children that have the same enthusiasm as he does.
