Johan Cruyff Institute and SAFAP sign an institutional educational agreement that will benefit Peruvian professional footballers
The Johan Cruyff Institute will make all their experience and educational offer available to the Association of Professional Football Players of Peru (SAFAP) in order to contribute to the education of their players during or after the end of their sports career. Renato Ricci, country manager of the Johan Cruyff Institute in Peru, and Fernando Revilla, member of the Executive Committee of FIFPro and head of the America Division, signed the agreement in the SAFAP offices. Among other advantages, this agreement will enable SAFAP to offer special conditions to professional footballers to study both the Master in Sport Management and the Master in Football Business.
Fernando Revilla, who studied our Master in Football Business in Peru in 2012, has made a long journey in favor of the professionalization of players since his appointment as general manager in 2002. Under his mandate, the Peruvian Professional Footballer’s Statute has been drawn up, the Conciliation Chamber of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) has been created and there has been a restructuring of the Federation itself.
This agreement with the Johan Cruyff Institute allows him to take one step further. “One of the great objectives of SAFAP in this new stage is that our footballers have access to quality education and are well prepared for the future. The agreement with the Johan Cruyff Institute meets all the requirements we seek for our members”, says Revilla.
Renato Ricci adds that “little by little the players are taking an interest in doing training. Now, technical staff, coaches and players have access to our programs and will be able to continue in the future to be linked to their passion: football”.
SAFAP is following in the footsteps of the Guatemalan Footballers’ Association, which also counts on the training of the Johan Cruyff Institute for the benefit of its members.
