
The Leonese club signs a collaboration agreement with the Johan Cruyff Institute to guarantee academic training for its players, technicians and employees for the benefit of the club’s management
Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa football club, popularly known as ‘La Cultu’, will offer its players, technicians and administrative staff the possibility to access the academic training ofthe Johan Cruyff Institute with interesting discounts thanks to the collaboration agreement signed by the two entities.
On December 5, coinciding with the second leg of the Copa del Rey round of 16 tie against FC Barcelona, the CEO of Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, Ignacio Álvarez Martínez, visited the headquarters of the Johan Cruyff Institute in Barcelona to sign the agreement.

“The collaboration agreement with the Johan Cruyff Institute represents an excellent option for Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa to strengthen various sport and business management skills among our players and staff. Additionally, it will be a source of inspiration and exchange of successful initiatives thanks to the network of highly prestigious professionals and teams that the Johan Cruyff Institute already works with. We are convinced that it will be a mutually beneficial collaboration and with that objective we approach this agreement with great enthusiasm,” says Ignacio Álvarez.
The agreement will also present opportunities for the students of our institution, since in addition to learning about the management of a historic football club through case studies and the club’s participation in presentations and educational activities, they will also be able to apply for internships offered by Cultural y Deportiva.
The Leonese club was founded in 1923, becoming a SAD (sports plc) in 2001, and currently plays in the Spanish Second Division B. On signing this new collaboration agreement, Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa joins the list of football clubs and collaborating sports entities of the Johan Cruyff Institute, such as FC Barcelona, Girona FC, Real Sporting de Gijón, the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) and FIFPro America, among others.
