The University Master’s Degree in Sports Management is a 9-month program that examines the most important aspects of management applied to sport. Classes from expert faculty members, who are closely linked to the sports sector, are combined with master classes with exclusive speakers from the world of sport administration and management, outdoor visits (field trips) and study trips that will enrich the experience you’ll have with your classmates and, broaden your network of contacts in the world of sport.
Objectives
The main objective of the University Master’s Degree in Sports Management is to guide you in your development as an integrated sport management professional and train you in the use of management tools to recognize business opportunities, establish strategies, anticipate changes, optimize resources and analyze information with sound judgement.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSThe requirements for admission are:
- An official university degree or its international equivalent. * Degree qualification and academic certificates issued by institutions in countries outside the EU must be official documents issued by the competent authorities and legalized via diplomatic channels or, where necessary, via the Hague Apostille.
- All candidates who cannot accredit an official university degree in Business Administration and Management, Economics, Marketing, Tourism or equivalents are required to take an entrance exam for the master’s degree.
- Depending on the results obtained in the entrance exam, the student may be required to take extra courses in order to access the Master’s Degree.
* Depending on your degree you may be asked to take complementary courses as a prerequisite for admission (4 ECTS each one).

- Certified photocopy of the official university degree necessary for admission to Master, or photocopy of the degree along with the original.In the case the Hague Apostille will be necessary, it should clearly appear on the certified photocopy.

- 2 passport photos.
- Registration form completed for the Official Masters Degree in Sport Management.
SELECTION CRITERIA
In the candidate selection procedure the following evaluation criteria will be applied:
- Suitability of the candidate’s profile to the objectives and contents of the program. The assessment of the suitability of the candidate’s profile will be made based on the result obtained in the entrance test (if necessary) and a presentation letter of a maximum length of two pages in which the candidate will present their qualifications to the Master’s profile and professional objectives.
- Academic record: it will be valued in accordance with the regulations for the assessment of academic records of the UAB.
- Professional experience: professional experience will be valued positively, especially if this experience has been obtained in the field of Sports Management.
- The content of two letters of recommendation. A letter from a university professor and another letter from a professional field will be especially valued.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
The program includes visits to sports entities and facilities, guided by staff members, in order to learn more about their management, such as La Masía (FC Barcelona), Estadi Johan Cruyff (FC Barcelona), Spotify Camp Nou (FC Barcelona), Centre d’Alt Rendiment (CAR), RCDE Stadium (RCD Espanyol), Estadi Municipal de Montilivi (Girona FC), Circuit de Catalunya, Johan Cruyff Arena (AFC Ajax), Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, among others.

The price of the program does not include the administrative fee for the issuance of the Official Master’s diploma (€218.15 in 2022). As it is an official degree, this can take between 12 and 24 months. Once you have requested it, the UAB Academic Management Service will give you a provisional diploma certificate valid for all purposes until you receive the official diploma.

The University Master’s Degree in Sports Management combines a core of university professors with teaching and research experience, and a set of experts professionally active in their areas and connected to companies and institutions in the sector.

| Ricard Esparza Masana (Co-coordinador) | PhD in Business Economics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2014). He has two master’s degrees in economics (with applications related to R+D+I). He is a professor of economic analysis at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the UAB and a researcher at the Center for Research in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation at the UAB. His field of research focuses on innovation policies and the evaluation of R+D+I public policies, as well as the role of innovation for the development of emerging economies. He has published various articles in indexed journals on the subject, as well as other materials. He has been the principal investigator of 9 European and international projects, collaborating in research and knowledge transfer actions with entities from more than 40 countries on 6 continents. He is part of various committees and initiatives of experts from different governments, including the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Commission. Co-coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Sports Management at the UAB-Johan Cruyff Institute. | Luca Salvadori | Luca Salvadori is an applied economist and Assistant Professor & Serra Húnter Fellow at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) , specializing in public economics, taxation, and fiscal federalism. An Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and a PhD graduate from the University of Barcelona , his research has earned the Epainos Award and is supported by fellowships at TARC and IEB. He is a multilingual professional, fluent in Italian, English, Spanish, and Catalan. Subject: Economics and Sports Law. |
| Víctor Rodrigo Zamora | Víctor Rodrigo Zamora is a specialized legal consultant and freelance lawyer based in Barcelona. With nearly seven years of experience at FIFA in Zurich, he served in high-level roles such as Senior Legal Counsel and Group Leader, focusing on football regulatory matters and the Ethics Committee. He previously chaired the Sports Law board at the ICAB and worked at top firms like Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle and Uría Menéndez. A published expert in financial fair play and FIFA regulations, he holds a law degree from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a Master’s in Sports Law. Subject: Economics and Sports Law. |
| Jordi Viñas Fort | MBA from Esade (2004), Master in Sport Management from Loughborough University (1997) and Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Sport from INEFC-Barcelona. Partner-director and founder of Itik Consultoria Esport i Lleure SL. Previously, he was general director of the Balthus wellness center in Santiago de Chile from 1999 to 2002 and manager of CD Terrassa Hockey from 1997 to 1999. He is the author of various studies on elements of the sports system, such as studies on sports clubs in Catalonia, the situation of municipal sports services, public-private collaboration systems in Catalan sports as well as sports habits of the population. | Oscar Duran Gutiérrez | Professional with over two decades of experience in sports management, team leadership, and strategic planning. He is currently the Director of Sports Facilities at the Ajuntament de l’Hospitalet and a university professor, a role he has held since 2005. He was formerly the Director of Operations at DUET Spa & Sports and a consultant at Atlas Sport Consulting. He holds a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from INEFC-UB and has completed postgraduate studies in public management, marketing, and sports economics. | Pere Gómez | Pere Gómez is a specialist in technology applied to sport and digital transformation, with experience in strategic consulting, innovation, and management of technology projects within the sports industry. He is currently Head of Sports Technology at FC Barcelona, where he leads the integration of advanced technologies aimed at improving athletic performance, data analysis, and process optimization across the club’s professional teams. | Galia Dvorak | Galia Dvorak is a high-level sports manager and educator with an exceptional career marked by her participation in four Olympic Games (Beijing, London, Rio, and Tokyo). She currently serves as Deputy Secretary General of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU), where she leads strategic planning, development programs for member associations, and the coordination of educational activities at the continental level. With a strong academic background that includes master’s degrees in Marketing and Sports Management, as well as in Business Communication, Dvorak brings an expert perspective in leadership, team dynamics, and international relations. | Marc Serra Sallent | Executive and entrepreneur in the sports sector with a strong track record in management, marketing, and sponsorships. He is currently co-owner of CF Badalona (3rd RFEF). Previously, he led CA Sports, managing clients such as Hyundai and Coca-Cola across EMEA and LATAM. An expert in sports strategy (IESE, Johan Cruyff Institute), he combines his executive role with teaching. | Andreu Turró Sol | PhD in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from the UAB (thesis awarded with an Extraordinary Prize). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management and in Market Research and Techniques from the UAB, and a Master’s in Marketing Management from ESADE. Serra Húnter Fellow (Professor) in the Department of Business at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and member of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Research (CREIS). Previously, he served as a professor at the Utrecht University School of Economics (Netherlands). His research focuses on the conditioning factors of corporate entrepreneurship from a quantitative perspective. He has published several articles in international journals on this topic and currently participates in various national and international projects in this field. Currently, he balances executive leadership with academia as a Sport Finance Teacher at ESEI International Business School and an anthropology instructor at CIEE. | Susana Vega | Susana Vega is the Executive Director of Tūwā Global Services and a leading expert in sustainable sports tourism, circular economy, and event governance. A former beach volleyball athlete and founder of Spain’s first beach volleyball club, she combines her elite sporting background—including work at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games—with over a decade of experience in management and consultancy. Currently, she serves as a university lecturer at institutions such as Blanquerna – Universitat Ramon Llull and INEFC, where she researches and teaches sport event management and nautical tourism while completing a second PhD.
