Johan Cruyff Institute Recognized by the High-Performance Athlete Support Program (PROAD).

As part of the CSD-Career Dual Awards ceremony, Johan Cruyff Institute was recognized for its scholarship fund, The Cruyff Athlete Fund, which aims to support athletes in their transition to the professional world

The collaboration between Johan Cruyff Institute and PROAD dates back to 2021, when the institute was incorporated into the program through the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), under the Ministry of Culture and Sport. Since then, nine PROAD athletes have benefited from training in various programs at Johan Cruyff Institute through The Cruyff Athlete Fund scholarships.

The purpose of this fund is to facilitate the transition of professional athletes into the sports industry, an initiative aligned with Johan Cruyff’s vision of the Athlete Dual Career. This represents a unique opportunity for athletes to advance their professional development, both during their active careers and after retirement.

Through this collaboration, Johan Cruyff Institute provides PROAD’s high-performance athlete network with access to its academic programs in Sports Management, Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, and Football Business. Being part of this network offers countless advantages beyond specialized academic training, connecting athletes to a global community in sports leadership and management.

“We would like to thank the High Council for Sports and especially PROAD for this recognition. It is particularly meaningful because it honors the work we have been doing for over 25 years in support of athletes’ dual careers.”

The awards ceremony coincided with the 15th anniversary of PROAD, a program aimed at providing comprehensive and personalized support to high-performance athletes (DAN). In this way, it promotes the development of a quality dual career and facilitates athletes’ transition to professional life.

The Cruyff Athlete Fund

Our founder, Johan Cruyff, had a strong desire to enable athletes to develop their dual careers and make a successful transition from sport to the business world after their retirement from professional sport. He considered athletes to be the best people to lead sports organizations, as they understand the specifics of sport and thus defend the values of sport in business to the utmost. At Johan Cruyff Institute we put our commitment to Johan’s belief and legacy into practice through our CSR program The Cruyff Athlete Fund.
