Master Graduation - Johan Cruyff Institute

June stands out in the calendar for being graduation month and also because it’s the month when SportBusiness International Magazine publishes its annual ranking of the world’s best educational programmes in Sports Management, from over 500 proposals selected.

The Johan Cruyff Institute appears again in the top 25 and, ranked at number 14 this year, has risen eight places compared to last year. The institution has improved its position in the ranking of on-campus programmes for the fourth consecutive year and is now placed 5th in Europe, while it remains 2nd best in the world ranking of online courses.

“It is a pleasure once again to appear in the top 25 ranking. The number 14 is a special number for me and should be a motivation for us to carry on growing. It is very positive that all the students who have chosen to continue their training with us value their time spent in our classrooms, and it stimulates us to continue to provide the sports world with great managers”, says the founder Johan Cruyff.

One of the Johan Cruyff Institute’s upcoming projects is the global launch of a MOOC (massive open online course) in the month of September. The course is a basic introduction to the world of Sports Sponsorship and will be offered worldwide for free. It is a great opportunity to get to know the Cruyff Institute teaching methodology, based on ‘learning by doing’.

Owen Evans from SportBusiness International explains that “we only evaluate programmes the offer a Master’s degree or higher and are 100% focused on the sports industry. It is also imperative that they have more than three years of proven experience in order to get the necessary historical data.” To develop the ranking, SportBusiness International assesses “whether graduates have managed to meet their initial expectations considering the quality of education, the support in starting a career in the sports industry and the extracurricular support from the programme provider”.
