Johan Cruyff Institute will once again be present in a new edition of The Cup, the prestigious youth football tournament, which this year reaches its seventh edition as The Cup Pineda de Mar 2023, from August 17 to 20. The tournament is organized and managed by Manu Campás, graduate of our Blended Master in Marketing and Sport Management (Barcelona).
As an academic institution that watches over the professionalization of sport in the field of management and the development of athletes who opt for a dual career, Johan Cruyff Institute continues to support a tournament that Manu Campás already had in mind during his master’s degree. Through applying he tools he acquired on the master’s program and his good work, Manu has managed to ensure that The Cup has been fully consolidated in the panorama of national and international youth football.
Pineda de Mar will host the tournament for the second consecutive year, which this year presents a luxury line-up with the participation of FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol, Girona FC, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Valencia FC, Aqua Hotel FC (host team) and Pafos FC (Cyprus) as the only international team.
FC Barcelona wants to raise the trophy they already won in 2016 and 2019.
The Cup was born in 2016 with a clear commitment to four fundamental values—teamwork, fair play, humility and academic training—and with the aim of becoming a leading tournament in the youth category. Today, the participating teams consider it as an unmissable event in their preseason planning.
Esport3 will offer all the matches live on television and for those who want to follow the competition live in person, admission to the Municipal Can Xaubet stadium will be free.
