In its second edition, the TRAM Barcelona Open, the first international wheelchair tennis tournament, can again count on the collaboration of the Johan Cruyff Institute, which will award two full scholarships for the Postgraduate in Sport Management Online

The TRAM Barcelona Open, the first international wheelchair tennis tournament, returns to Barcelona for its second edition, from June 27 to July 1. The tournament, which is organized and directed by José Coronado, a former student of the Master in Sport Management, will again have the collaboration of the Johan Cruyff Institute and will be held at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona.

A total of 40 players from 16 different nationalities will make up the draw of this new edition which, after the success achieved in its premiere last year, has risen in category to become part of the ITF2 tournament circuit. “The TRAM Barcelona Open was born in 2017 with the hope of making wheelchair tennis known to the city of Barcelona and turning it into a reference tournament, and this year we take another step up – explains the director, José Coronado-. Of the 40 players participating, 16 are in the Top 30 of the world ranking, so it is guaranteed to be a good show. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy this spectacular sport discipline. They will see tennis of the highest quality and I am convinced that they will be impressed by the level of these athletes”.

The TRAM Barcelona Open, for which entry is free every day of the tournament, has the collaboration of the Fundació La Caixa, local government institutions (Generalitat de Catalunya, Ajuntament de Barcelona and Diputació de Barcelona), the Fundación Step by Step, the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Johan Cruyff Institute, which will award two scholarships to study the Postgraduate in Sport Management Online. Our director, Mariël Koerhuis, will attend the final on July 1 and will present the scholarships to the two winners, in the men’s and women’s categories.
