The only Spanish representative in the halfpipe at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics has been selected to attend the Master in Sport Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute
The Spanish halfpipe skier, Katia Griffiths, will study the Master in Sport Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute thanks to the scholarship awarded for the seventh consecutive year by El Periodico de Catalunya and Diario Sport. Katia was the only Spanish representative in halfpipe at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games and has been a dedicated pioneer of the sport over the last 10 years.
Katia now wants to take a break from competition and add some academic knowledge to her valuable experience as a professional athlete. “Having been part of the evolution of a sport previously unknown by the general public and without adequate resources, I’m really interested in learning all about sport management to be able to devote myself to the development of winter sports in the near future,” says Katia.
The skier is the latest on the list of scholarships offered by El Periodico and Diario Sport to athletes such as Raquel Acinas (cycling), Alex Tello (roller hockey), Fernando Perez (taekwondo), Victor Tremps (handball), Laia Talarn (judo) and Toni Elias (motorcycling).
