The UTPL expands its offer of Johan Cruyff Institute programs

The UTPL, Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, once again opts for Johan Cruyff Institute, adding another program to its offer of courses in sport management

After the implementation of the agreement between Johan Cruyff Institute and the UTPL, with the successful delivery of the Online Course in Sport Marketing in September last year, a new continuing education program, the Online Course in Sport Management Fundamentals, will be available to all young students of the Ecuadorian university that are interested in learning about how the sports industry is managed.

Last Friday, the commercial director of Johan Cruyff Institute, Román Pascual, together with UTPL representative Jimmy Fabián Villavicencio Montoya, announced the signing of the extension of the agreement between the two entities.

The UTPL, one of the ten best-rated universities in Ecuador in 2019, according to the consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds, adds to its higher education offer this introductory course to the world of sport management, which begins on March 2 and is taught online. The course lasts 4 months and requires about 60 hours of study, divided in modules dedicated to strategic management, management skills, sport marketing, and financial management in sport.

Román Pascual, commercial director of Johan Cruyff Institute said that “with the objective of continuing to professionalize the sports industry worldwide, and in this case in Ecuador, we have extended our collaboration agreement with the UTPL, offering its students the chance to get an introduction to the world of sport management, through our online program Sport Management Fundamentals.”

Regarding the experience obtained from this alliance, UTPL representative Jimmy Fabián Villavicencio Montoya said: “The relationship between the UTPL and Johan Cruyff Institute has been a success as we have shared different programs of sporting interest and we have complemented each other in offering successful academic training in the national sports area.” He also added that, “we have had a great experience sharing with many sports entrepreneurs nationwide, who have been able to see that education is essential to obtain better results in their sport projects. I am sure that these two courses have given us a big impact in the country and over time we will manage bigger projects with the objective of professionalizing sport in Ecuador.”

Students will learn how sports organizations are managed correctly through real-life cases, and will work on the basic concepts and skills required to progress in the field of sport management, both strategic and operational. Throughout the training process they will be accompanied by Josep Torres, PhD in financial economics and tenured professor at Johan Cruyff Institute, and Lukas Dorda, eLearning manager and academic tutor at Johan Cruyff Institute.
