Johan Cruyff Institute becomes academic partner of Global Soccer Conclave

Global Soccer Conclave will offer the Indian market two Johan Cruyff Institute-accredited degrees from August 2023: the Post Graduate Sports Management and the Post Graduate Football Business Management

Johan Cruyff Institute and Global Soccer Conclave (GSC) have reached an important partnership agreement aimed at helping to develop the Indian and Southeast Asian sports industry. The academic institution founded by the legendary Johan Cruyff has now formally become an academic partner of Global Soccer Conclave, an educational platform focused on the professionalization of sport in the region, with a special focus on the football business.

After two years of collaboration during which Johan Cruyff Institute has contributed knowledge and content to the annual congresses organized by Global Soccer Conclave, both institutions have agreed to renew and expand their mutual commitment to the world of sport with the launch of two exclusive programs: the Post Graduate Sports Management and the Post Graduate Football Business Management, both lasting one year. The teaching model of Johan Cruyff Institute is different from any other business school in that it is 100% focused on the world of sport, builds knowledge from real cases, and has professors who combine teaching with their work in the sports sector.

“We are delighted to announce this extension of our initial partnership with Global Soccer Conclave. It is our intention to expand our presence in the Indian market and this training offer allows us to take that one step further. We want to reach as many sports professionals in India as possible with our high quality programs,” says Johan Cruyff Institute’s general manager, Mariël Koerhuis.

“We want to reach as many sports professionals in India as possible with our high quality programs” – Mariël Koerhuis, general manager of Johan Cruyff Institute

Johan Cruyff Institute will develop and deliver the first six modules of both programs. In this first seven-month online phase, students will gain a comprehensive overview and understanding of the international sports industry. Some areas of specific knowledge— strategic management in sport organizations, sport marketing, financial management and fan engagement—are common to both programs. In the case of the Post Graduate Sports Management, modules on sport facility management and leadership in sport organizations are also included, while the Post Graduate Football Business Management also integrates an introduction to the football industry and strategic planning in football.

Global Soccer Conclave‘s contribution to both programs will also be key given its close relationship with the Indian sports industry. In this sense, in the last five months of both courses, students will work on real projects for sports entities and organizations in the South Asian region that need specific management improvements, under the supervision of Global Soccer Conclave staff. A consultancy model that Johan Cruyff Institute also successfully offers to sports organizations around the world and which has proven to be a very inspiring and educational challenge for students and a valuable service for companies.

“Together with Johan Cruyff Institute, we are committed to providing solutions rather than just discussing the problem through collaboration, and an analytical and industry integration approach” – Dr. Amol Patil, executive director of GSC

Dr. Amol Patil, executive director of Global Soccer Conclave said: “The potential of India and South East Asia in sport, and football in particular, is immense. However, at present we require an inclusive approach to solve problems in innovative ways for the greater development of sport– performance, as well as business around it. Together with Johan Cruyff Institute, we are committed to providing solutions rather than just discussing the problem through collaboration, and an analytical and industry integration approach. And the two research-based one-year programs, namely, Post Graduate Sports Management and Post Graduate Football Business Management,  are one of the best examples of our commitments.”

The programs will start on August 15, 2023, and a bachelor’s degree or higher is a prerequisite for enrolment. The graduation ceremony will be held in India.
