Johan Cruyff Institute to open SPORTBIZ EUROPE - Barcelona Edition

In addition to the opening presentation of the SPORTBIZ EUROPE Barcelona Edition by Mariël Koerhuis, general manager of Johan Cruyff Institute, we will host a panel of experts who will discuss the training, recruitment and retention of talent in the football industry, offer an exclusive interview with the NBA’s head of fan engagement for Europe & the Middle East, and we will have a stand at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm with all the information about our academic programs

SPORTBIZ EUROPE Barcelona Edition returns to Barcelona in 2021 with the support of Johan Cruyff Institute as learning partner of the event, which will take place on October 19-20 at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm in a hybrid format. The congress will start with the inaugural presentation by our general manager, Mariël Koerhuis, who will give a presentation on the ‘Sport Business Revolution’. Mariël’s presentation will open the content agenda on the 19th (from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.) and will reveal how the sports industry has been transformed to favor its expansion and diversification.

Johan Cruyff Institute will have the collaboration of three professionals from the football industry to discuss, in a panel scheduled from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., the need for talent that sports organizations now require in order to work and stand out in an increasingly competitive and professionalized sector. Under the title ‘The dream team: high performance management’, the panel sponsored by Johan Cruyff Institute will be composed of: Hugo Esteves (HR manager at FC Porto), Peggy van Alem (head of human resources at PSV Eindhoven) and Gustavo Silikovic (FIFA consultant in strategic management), under the moderation of Guillermo Pérez Boloix, co-founder and COO at 4NFC.

Lukas Dorda, online manager at Johan Cruyff Institute, will interview George Aivazoglou, NBA vice president and head of fan engagement and DTC for Europe and the Middle East, on stage at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm. The interview, which will take place on the 19th from 2 p.m., will focus on ‘The new generation of NBA fans’ and the expansion of the US professional basketball league in Europe, based on hyper-localization and DTC (direct to consumer) marketing.

SPORTBIZ EUROPE Barcelona Edition will once again bring together professionals from the sports industry, this time in a hybrid event, with the presence of experts on the premises of the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm and live streaming through its content platform. Johan Cruyff Institute will be present on the debate stage and, in addition, will have a stand where visitors will be able to obtain information about our academic training in sport management, sport marketing and sponsorship, football business and coaching.

Our network of students and former students will be able to get a special discount to attend the event, at which topics such as digital transformation, new trends in investment, audience diversification, broadcasting and media, sport sponsorship, the power of data, fan engagement and innovation in sport, among others, will be discussed.
